Crispin:
An old-timey private eye with an intense love of following rules. He’s operating his agency outside of the Detective Guild, since he doesn’t agree with their policies, but it does make business… difficult to come by. Trying to be generous, make a difference in his community and still make a living, but it’s becoming a thin tightrope
to walk.
Julia:
An eccentric sailor operating in a crew that hunts down monsters to keep the seas safe. Has her own odd ideas about how to fulfill societal norms, and delights in the strange and wonderful–giving her the appearance of an uncaring airhead as she chases excitement. But to her, excitement usually means danger, and danger means people in need of help.
Dae:
Julia fished this shape-shifting, weasel-like creature out of the sea after a battle with a monster, and since then it’s become unclear if Julia adopted Dae or Dae adopted Julia. Dae is clearly a small animal, harmless–but don’t look in her eyes too long. In other news, she likes sniffing things out and watching shadows for things that others can’t see.
Ms. Hallifax:
Crispin’s secretary and only employee. She cares deeply for the young man she considers her protegé—almost her son—and is glad to help and support his work to help others. In the old days, she quite wanted to change the world, but now that she’s older she’s content to do that from behind the scenes.
Corwin Burnes:
One of Crispin’s contacts in the police force, a tough older gentleman who never quite understood what Crispin found objectionable in the codes of conduct. He still cares about the young man, even if he finds
him odd and full of wasted potential, but most of the time he’s busy working to keep the peace of an-ever-more-volatile city and an influx of superpowered individuals.
Ripple Fisher:
A young dock-dweller with no apparent home. He can be found wandering the wharfs and taking care of stray cats, and if you catch him at just the right time, you can see him disappear into the ocean. Friendly for the most part, but always a bit distant, as though he’s listening to something that you can’t hear.
